The Inland Valley Symphony gave
a free community concert Tuesday on the steps of the Temecula Civic Center . Several hundred from the community were in attendance . Among them were a number of our own church family . We were well represented in the orchestra, with Rose, Meredith and Kara playing their instruments . One of the pieces played was the familiar 1812 Overture, written by the Russian composer, Tchaikovsky . It commemorated the ignominious defeat of Napoleon’s army by the Russians . It was more the awful Russian winter than the Russian army that defeated them . In his madness to capture Moscow, Napoleon penetrated too deeply into Russia and was unable to keep his massive army properly supplied . By the time he got his remaining forces back to a place where they could maintain, they had lost nearly nine tenths of their army . A war is won as much behind the lines as it is on the frontlines of the battle field. For us to be effective soldiers in the work of God we must maintain our supply lines . That is, we must be people who stay daily in God’s Word, and who communicate in prayer with our Captain . We must stay faithful to our commitment to the worship of God and the fellowship of the saints as we attend the services in the House of God . The Devil would like to see us allow those supply lines cut off . As sure as the Russian winter, we are soon in trouble when we allow that . Don’t quit!
