THANK YOU
Dear Church,
It’s an honor to serve here at Calvary Baptist Church, and any kind of public gift like you gave us on Sunday is so humbling.
Thank you.
The longer I go—and it hasn’t been all that long—the more I need the grace of God. And, the more I realize that it’s the grace of God that helps any of us continue. I’m thankful for the battles that were fought and won in order to get our church where we are today. That’s the grace of God. And I’m thankful for the prospect of another 35 years here, but, as before, that will be the grace of God alone.
But God never calls us to go it alone, either, and sometimes his grace is shown through a tangible gift like you gave us. In those moments when we feel alone or wonder if we’re doing the right thing, God sends just what we need, when we need it.
A financial gift is a wonderful help, and we have intentional plans to use it for God’s glory, but beyond the financial gift, I am so thankful that it represents more. To me, a gift speaks to the heart of the giver. I doubt the deacons strong-armed anyone into giving (who knows… maybe!), so the gift represents love and care. I don’t feel worthy of it.
But thank you. We are honored, and I love you all more than I could possibly describe.
God bless you.
-Pastor Ryan
