NICE TO SEE PROGRESS
I love to see steps toward a goal, even if they’re small steps. Did you set out to read your Bible more this year? I love seeing people sticking with it. Here we are in March, and many of you are progressing. I’m so happy to see that. For some, it’s a verse; for others, it’s full books at a time.
This kind of progress is never fully done because once a goal is met, we find the next one. But that kind of goal orientation is good for you; it keeps you going. It keeps you from growing stale.
We were designed to be fueled by progress. That is not a bad thing, and measuring that progress is sometimes as simple as thinking back on where you were just a week ago, or a month ago, or a year ago, or 10 years ago.
Are you the same as you were 10 years ago? No! You’re a completely different person, and you’ve grown through a lot—good and bad. But even the bad times can be progress, if you view it right.
It’s nice to see progress.
I like stepping back every now and then and reviewing our church goals. I would do this every year in the youth ministry, and in Sunday’s bulletin, I’m working on putting a few updates on projects, as well as showing a few details of what’s coming up.
Here’s a sneak peek at Sunday’s bulletin:
PROJECT UPDATES: new black padding in the gym, summer intern selected, staff apartment flooring/cabinets update.
VISION BOOKLET: at the beginning of the year we wanted to introduce a new teacher prayer time on Sunday mornings, explorer meetings, and a new adult Sunday school book that we will go through. We have already done all three!
UPCOMING PROJECTS: we are working on a video cart to produce more beautiful videos like we enjoyed last Sunday, and have added a new Media Assistant position that Sarah Saldana will be filling (about 5 hours per week). In addition, we are testing a new platform to combine attendance tracking, giving, emails, texts, guest follow-up, service schedules, and more… all in one service!
UPCOMING EVENTS: We will have a full 2-page spread of how to prepare for Easter, but we are also excited about our Testify Night (3/19 – with Stan Schmidt and Rob Russo) and our Active Shooter Response Training night (3/26).
Stay tuned! –Pastor Ryan
