What Makes the MOST Difference?
I sometimes try to assess my life and think, “What makes the MOST difference? What is actually working?”
The answers vary based on what realms I’m thinking in. Family? Marriage? Personal development?
In the realm of your spiritual life, what makes the most difference?
Before you jump to conclusions, consider the long-term faithfulness of the happiest Christians you know. Think about the people who’ve been in it for the long haul, and ask them what made the most difference.
Short-term gains are sometimes easy, and everyone has ideas. “Pastor, we should talk more about _______… we should have ______… we should do ______.”
They might be good things, but what makes the most difference?
For me, it was never one event, one sermon series, or one tool that made the difference. For me, what has made the most difference in my spiritual life has been the consistent time in God’s Word. I’ve never known a fruitful Christian who’s ignoring his Bible.
I said a fruitful Christian, by the way.
Some Christians are “faithful” just by being stubborn. They’re not spiritual, they’ve just done church for a long time. That’s not what I’m talking about.
I’m talking about the Christians who love the Lord, love the Word, and are humble enough to let it grow them for their whole life. Bro. Si said recently, “We never graduate from Bible study,” and I totally agree.
What makes the MOST difference in your spiritual life? The consistent study of God’s Word with the intention to be changed by it.
