Productivity Galore!
I have been so pleased with the work of our summer interns and other volunteers, particularly on the grounds these past couple of weeks. With Cameron Román and Josh Rowley working on Mondays and Fridays, and Bro. Alex working every day, the interns have been able to cover a LOT of ground. Immanuel came and helped all day on Friday, and here was the update I got from Bro. Christian last week:
A couple updates from today:
—I had the guys start their day outside with the parking lot. They got a lot of work done and the gravel area is looking much better. There’s still plenty to do, but it’s progress. Grass was also cut.
—Kaleb Theurich came in today to make up some time for yard sale workdays. He tested out and cleaned all of the electronic appliances from 9-12pm.
—I was going to work with Josh and Cameron on ProPresenter and video editing, but I updated ProPresenter and now it won’t start. Working with tech support to solve the issue.
—as a plan B, the guys are working on Mrs. Judy Austin’s room. They are working on cleaning and sanitizing the ductwork to hopefully remove the smell.
—I’m working with Bro Alex on a new POS system through Tithely called Tithely Pay. It essentially works like Square but eliminates the need for a third party system. My mom is especially excited about because she’ll be able to track payments and inventory more accurately.
—I have them do more yard work before the end of the day, especially blowing off the parking lot.
More updates!
—Alex has been working on setting up the Tithely pay system. Each item gets its own picture, price, and category. We can now take card payments for events like Preaching Rally and other event purchases directly through this new tool.
—now the guys have been working on troubleshooting the sprinkler/drip system in the parking lot. So far, they have found 8 different leaks. Yikes! I showed them how to repair the drip lines with new couplings and how to replace a broken sprinkler head.
These guys are fast! Btw my brother has been here all day too working along side them all.
On top of that, they have done yard sale pickups and prep, gone on weekly outreach, opened and locked up the buildings, and learned from staff meetings about everything that goes into each week at a church. On Mondays, I will take one of them on visits with me to visit guests, shut-ins, and each member’s home as I work through the directory.
This kind of stuff—the yard work, the sermon prep, the in-home visits, all of it—this is ministry! And I am so thankful for a church body that ministers to one another. I appreciate a body that works—not just a few parts, but all of it! Glory to God.
