“MISSIONS” ON REPEAT
You are a missionary.
I think we need to hear the most important things on repeat. You’re a missionary. You’re a missionary. You’re a missionary.
We can repeat the mantra here, but I think we also need the repetition throughout the year. Last week, we had a missionary challenge us to be sensitive to the call to missions, and that is a powerful reminder! I’m praying that God would raise up more foreign missionaries from our congregation.
That’s a good thing to repeat.
And we should support missions, too. Bro. Strother, Bro. Honeycutt, and Bro. Huerrera recently helped us remember missions, and Bro. Dan Morris is coming this Sunday for another reminder of what our missions support is doing for the Gospel around the world!
But, then again, we ARE already missionaries. We need that message on repeat. You’re a missionary to your “tribe,” whoever they may be. You don’t have to go on deputation and raise funds to go overseas; you can minister right now.
In fact, I am skeptical of someone’s call to foreign missions if they are not involved in local missions. “Pastor, I think God’s calling me to be a missionary.” Hmm…. Maybe. We have All Church Outreach this Saturday. Do you want to come? “Nah, I’m busy…”
I talked with our deacons and Sunday school teachers about All Church Outreach, and encouraged them to stay committed to local missions as much as foreign missions.
Acts 1:8 “…ye shall be witnesses unto me both [at the same time] in Jerusalem [local missions], and in all Judaea [e.g. California], and in Samaria [e.g. United States], and unto the uttermost part of the earth [e.g. foreign countries].
What a glorious privilege to take this glorious gospel message to the world (see 2 Cor. 4:4).
