Only when I am on a planning week do I track every minute of my day, but I should try it more often. Talk about redeeming the time!
Last Sunday’s text in Ephesians talked about redeeming the time because the days are evil, and on Monday I drove the junior campers to Ironwood and used this week to work on a book I have been writing since March. I tracked every minute of every day, and when you have to log your social media and YouTube consumption, it is revealing! “Redeeming the time” means seeing your life as a vapor—a puff of steam that is here one second and gone the next. We only have this life to live for God—how are you using your time?
Ladies, without a formal Bible study to go to, did you still study your Bible? Men, did you? What amount of time last week was spent on gold, silver, and precious stones, and what amount was spent on wood, hay, and stubble. Working hard is a command of God and reaps eternal rewards, but not if other important areas of life are suffering.
How is your prayer life? How much time did you spend on self versus others? How many minutes did you spend last week on YouTube? Facebook? Instagram? TikTok?
For me, it’s Chess.com. Yikes. I set an alert on my phone to go off after one hour of play, and I regularly hit it. I try to listen to an audiobook while playing, but, still… is that the best use of my time? Likely not.
How about you? Redeem the time, because the days are evil.
