38 YEARS! Few places in Temecula are older than Calvary Baptist Church. In fact, we are older than Temecula itself.
Dad was pastoring in Oregon when an Orange County pastor called him and said, “Bro. Rench, they’re just finishing the 15 freeway, and Rancho California (Temecula) is right in the middle of LA, San Diego, and Orange County. You need to get down here and start a church.”
That was 1986 when I was a newborn, and the rest is history. In May 1987, our church started with just a handful of people—some of whom are still here to this day—and we have been “contending for truth, not traditions or trends” ever since.
To commemorate our 38th anniversary, we get to hear from our founding pastor, enjoy a nice lunch in the Fellowship Hall, and then spend the afternoon with a sort of “Singspiration” jubilee celebration service. Today is a great day! I am so thankful to the Lord for all that HE has done. Let’s give him the glory and praise today.
