SUMMER’S IN FULL SWING!
Summer is my favorite season of the year. First, it’s NOT COLD, and that makes me happy. Second, we are enjoying so many exciting things right now. Here are a few:
New Series. Last week’s note said, “SCOOCH OVER,” and you did! It was so nice to be close together in the front section of pews as we started our new series through Romans. It’s a slow, deliberate look through the book, and I think it will be super helpful.
Interns. Also last week, we gave an update on the interns. They’ve been getting after it! This past week they were painting, going on visits with me, door-knocking, doing yard sale pickups, painting, helping the missionary, fixing more lights, cleaning sidewalks, and more.
Ladies Bible Study. Someone asked my wife, “Can we do more of these?” I love that there’s a hunger for God’s Word and for godly fellowship among the ladies. They have one more week, and it’s been such a great series through Ezekiel. I hope to have last year’s JOY Devotional book done soon, and then I’ll be working on this year’s Ezekiel book.
Teen Bible Study. The teens have been meeting every Monday during the ladies Bible study to go through the BIBS devotionals. They’re doing the work daily at home and then reviewing their work together on Mondays. I love that a huge group of teens are studying God’s Word!
Congregational Singing Month (July). Next week we’ll start learning some new music for our “Choir Sabbath” month as we emphasize congregational singing. I’ve been looking forward to this month for a long time!
Offerings/fundraisers. Last week’s bake sale raised about $450 for the junior campers! Thank you for your generosity! In addition, we gave over $900 to the missionary on Sunday, and over $600 to missions for the Master Clubs takeover the week before! What a blessing! The yard sale is coming up for the teens, and a few people have told me that they want to sponsor campers to be able to go to camp. This is SO helpful, because I’ve been able to tell young people, “If you want to go and you’re willing to work for it, we’ll make sure you can go to camp.” We’re not handing out free welfare, but we don’t want finances to be the reason someone can’t go to camp, so these fundraisers and sponsorships are SO helpful for that. Thank you for your generosity—it’s for eternal purposes!
Camps. Those eternal purposes right now are the summer camps coming up in a couple of weeks. Pray now for our young people!
Fellowships. The volleyball night, graduate fellowships, and warm summer evenings have made for such wonderful fellowship after services. The upcoming dessert fellowship is another opportunity to sit with someone new and strike up a friendship.
