Yesterday was Knott’s. It was awesome.
For some reason, it was awesomer than last year. Yes, I said awesomer. Because it was. I LOVED it yesterday. SO much fun.
Maybe it was the big group that stayed together all day. Maybe it was the ninja or Pssst or my fishy… games that we played in line. Maybe it was the fact that there were no lines and we got on tons of rides. Maybe it was Supreme Scream 3 or 4 times in a row. Maybe it was the fact that I had my wife with me this time! Whatever it was, I had a blast. Hopefully you did too.
Knott’s is one of those activities that has no other purpose behind it except to just go have some fun together. We were like a little family roaming around the park and getting weird looks when we were “Packaw!-ing” in line. That’s okay. We like it that way. The whole point of yesterday was just to play together, and the point of the pictures on the wall is to remember the fun times.
One of the reasons we have youth activities is to make memories without regrets. Some people go make tons of crazy memories with their friends, but if it involves something illegal or immoral, they can’t laugh about it with their family and there’s a sense of guilt attached to it. Those are memories with regrets. If that’s you, sure, you might have had fun at the time, and you might have got an adrenaline rush; but if you ever do anything and you’re worried about getting caught, think about the long-term guilt associated with it.
Youth activities are on purpose… even a Knott’s trip. Sometimes they’re all spiritual, sometimes they’re all play, sometimes they’re both. Yesterday was all play, and that’s totally okay. I love you all and hope you had a good time!

CAMP! Three weeks from tonight we’ll be half way through camp! Be praying right now about how God can use the week of preaching to change you. In the past, we have been one of the larger groups there, and we have always had a good testimony based on your good spirit and attitude during the games, with your cabin-mates, during the preaching and especially with your counselors. Be tender to God and be open to whatever He has for you.
