Choir Note-Sunday, September 1, 2013
The Christmas Cantata has always been one of my favorite things the choir does. I remember coming home from college on Christmas breaks and, if the timing was right, getting to be involved in the choir. In fact, I remember being involved in this cantata back in 2005 or so. Most of the other years of my college I was home a week after the Christmas play and cantata. Of course it would work out that way.
School choirs, community chorales and other secular organizations are all starting their Christmas preparations. Why shouldn’t we? If the world is excellent about their business, we should be as excellent (and more) with the resources that God has given us.
This is a good time to get others involved in choir, too. If you know of anyone who would like to join, ask them to join now before we get too far into our Christmas practice! The first few weeks are foundational.
Pastor’s goal is to have the choir loft expanded by Christmas. Let’s fill it up by then! (By the way, I would encourage every one of you to be involved in some way for that offering. I am personally going to give sacrificially because it hits so “close to home.” Choir will benefit the most. Perhaps we should give the most.)
I promise to prepare and try my hardest if you promise to put in a full hour’s commitment each week. By that I mean be on time, practice with a pencil, look up, think while you sing… you know, the usual.
