Even some of you ladies who were going to Sarah Anasarias’ shower were at the workday yesterday… I like it! Great work.
A bunch of you showed up yesterday for the workday. We had pretty much everyone busy the whole time, and we STILL didn’t get all the weeding done. At least we got most of the trees hacked and the flower beds up front all cleared out. Oh, and a couple guys changed all the attic filters. That’s a fun job!
If you were here yesterday, you were serving God. You might think, “No I wasn’t… I was pulling weeds and picking up sticks. Big deal.”
It IS a big deal. It’s eternal. You were serving at church for a purpose larger than you. I feel bad for those who couldn’t come yesterday. I feel even worse for those who didn’t want to come. That’s a heart condition. That’s a character that needs to be changed. Not wanting to work means there’s not a fear of God in the heart.
This past week I worked through the entire book of Proverbs and pulled out every verse about money. You know what I found out? A lot of the areas it talks about making money, it also talked about diligence and hard work. Hmm… are you seeing what I’m seeing?
There’s a direct correlation between hard work and God’s blessings. Sure, we say it’s just about “spiritual” hard work like reading your Bible and praying. But that’s not all. Hard work—even “spiritual” hard work—still looks like… work. Like… weeding, picking up sticks and filling the dumpster.
Good job serving God yesterday. That’s what life should be all about. Love God, love others, and do right.
