I viewed a documentary recently, which interviewed all of the astronauts in the Apollo series from 1969-1972. One of the things that was surprising about the documentary is that near the end of it the producers allowed the testimony of one of the astronauts concerning his faith in Christ. He related how his thinking changed following his experiences in space. He saw more clearly the vastness of creation, and the smallness of mankind in relationship to it. He also recognized the frailty and brevity of life. He related how a friend later showed him the gospel and he trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour.
Another team of Apollo astronauts chose to read a passage from Genesis 1 as they looked on their planet from their vantage point of space. One of them said that shortly after they returned from that flight, a lawsuit was filed against them by an atheist group in Texas because they read from the Bible on a government sponsored trip!
Another of the men, said something like the following, “I’m not a religious man, but when we were out there looking back toward the bright and alive planet earth from the aspect of a cold white and gray lifeless moon, and then seeing the countless multitudes of stars, I had to admit, all this didn’t just happen by chance. There has got to be a Creator.”
There is. He draws men unto Himself as we lift Him up. If you haven’t met Him yet, come to Him today! John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
