One of the glaring characteristics of those of the liberal left philosophic persuasion is the constant search for some meaningful cause. Their rejection of the Bible and of God leaves them in a vacuum of purposelessness unless they can discover some alternative to give meaning to their lives.
Hence things like “The March to Ban the Plastic Straw” have taken wings. Another thing you’ll notice about those people is that facts are irrelevant. “The cause” they live for is more important than the truth of the matter. In example, several credible research organizations have concluded that approximately 95% of the plastic pollution in the world’s oceans originates from China, Asia, and Africa. Plastic straws are a minuscule part of that, and even more minuscule is the portion of that coming from this continent.
Another pesky fact is that the production of paper straws consumes about 9 times more energy and costs more than the plastic straw. Life makes a whole lot more sense when approached from these complimentary perspectives; first, confidence in the Bible as God’s Word to the world and secondly, plain old-fashioned common sense.
