It was in the dark of the winter’s night that the shepherds on the Judean hills had their world lit up with the glory of God all around them, and the angelic message of the birth the their Saviour given them. Those good tidings of great joy have enlightened the hearts and lives of millions of people who have been receiving and accepting the truth of that gospel for these 2000 years gone by.
John’s father Zacharias spoke of this as he quoted from the prophet Isaiah, that “the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace. That light that shone round about the shepherds, shines on in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the “Light of the world.” May God help us who are blessed to have been given the gift of the Light of life eternal by this Saviour, to walk in the Light as we approach the New Year 2020.
