Prayer > Marketing.
We don’t want to get to the point that marketing overtakes prayer. We have a nice banner and we’re passing out flyers for Easter, for example, but what about prayer?
We have a lot coming up for Missions Revival. This Sunday we’re passing out slick booklets and getting to know our missionaries and their fields. But what about prayer?
Our friend, Evangelist Paul Mershon, who used to pastor a Baptist church here in Temecula, said in the article, “No Prayer; No Power,”
“Many times I have been grieved and disturbed of soul as I have watched folks labor so intensely in all manner of preparation for some spiritual event, but little or no prayer effort was expended at all. I have found that those churches that tarry long at prayer in preparation for their revival meetings have power on the meetings that is unusual and supernatural. I believe that the church should be called to prayer and fasting months before the meetings are to begin. Whether it be a revival meeting, a Bible conference, a missions conference or an evangelistic crusade, prayer must be the foundation for those endeavors. Prayer for these special events should be encouraged in each Sunday school class, in the youth department, the junior church, ladies Bible study groups, men’s prayer breakfasts and prayer groups, and certainly on Wednesday evening at prayer meeting.”
Would you give yourself to praying for souls to be saved on Easter Sunday? Would you pray for our Missions Revival?
Last Sunday, we learned from Paul’s example that being more like Christ should be the thing that drives our lives.
Would you pray and live this week as a witness for Jesus Christ?
