FALL AT CBC
With the summer activities done, we are settling into this Fall season. Remember to pray for one another, pray for souls, and pray for our church as we try to impact people’s lives for Christ. Just yesterday was a funeral for Betsy Philips, a wedding for Isac and Georgia Vela, and the second class of our Deeper in the Word Bible Institute. Many right now are facing family struggles, health needs, and spiritual battles, and we need the body of Christ now as badly as ever.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Safety Sunday Update. Tonight’s service will not be livestreamed as we will be hearing from our Security Ministry leader, Bro. Rick Foss, on our church’s plan for any safety events. We trust the Lord with our safety, but we also prepare in case the unthinkable happens—such as what happened just seven days ago in Michigan. We will certainly obey Matthew 5:44 “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,” but we’d also disagree with the Quakers in their total pacifism. Today’s world is deranged, and active shooters, for example, are often prepared to meet their end. In those cases, our team is prepared to oblige. When faced with the tension of loving our enemies and protecting the lives of our congregation, our team will remove every threat. Tonight’s service will talk more about that, all while we know that “God is my defense,” Psalm 59:17.
Missions Revival. Oct. 12–15. Next Sunday starts our 4-day Missions Revival. We have three more prayer meetings this week: Tuesday and Thursday in homes and Wednesday night here at church. Please plan now to be at each evening service so you don’t miss what God might have to say to you about worldwide missions!
Fall Festival. Nov. 8. Our valley is our mission field, so before we get excited about souls who are overseas, how about getting concerned with the souls next door! Our Fall Festival will include activities for everyone (not just kids), including a full lunch, and this event replaces our Christmas play. All the effort you once put into Scrooge, now put it into reaching out for the Fall Festival! Gospel flyers will be available to spread the word.
NEW RESOURCES
Joy Devotional—Softcover. The softcover (cheaper) option of the Ladies Devotional book Joy is now available at our Resource Desk!
Scripture Helps. We’ve been working on this new book for our Guest Bag for several years through various iterations of Gospel tracts, booklets, Bible reading plans, and now, finally, all of them are combined into one beautiful new book called SCRIPTURE HELPS. Watch tomorrow’s video on our church YouTube page for more.
