You may have seen the Peanuts comic strip run early this past week in the paper; the one where Lucy was in her “Psychiatrist” booth dispensing help for 5¢. Charlie Brown asked if she could cure his problems. Lucy responded, “I can cure any problem for 5¢.” Charlie Brown said, “Well, I’m depressed, discouraged, feeling hopeless, despairing, bewildered and confused, tired and friendless.” Lucy looked at him and asked, “You mean you want all that fixed for the same 5 cents?!
Agreed, there are times you have it tough. But most assuredly it is still possible to praise and thank the Lord for His excellent goodness toward you. Consider some of the things we should always grateful to God for- the gift of our salvation; the Bible in our language; our liberty as Americans; our family- both our household family and our church family. We are to give thanks for these things and much more, but the Word of God gives emphasis to who we give thanks to.
2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. You don’t need a nickel to do that.
