Here we are on the cusp of 2019 already! We are nearly 20 years into this twenty-first century, yet all the hullabaloo about the year 2000 seems to me but a short time ago! We cannot know of a surety what this New Year will bring forth, but we do know we are closer to the return of our Lord than we ever have been! While it is true that we all should desire to finish well, we know that no one ever crossed any finish-line without first getting out to toe the starting-line.
Many of us have read our Bible through again, and some have crossed that finish line for the first time this year, and that is wonderful! This time of year is a good time to set that as a prime objective for 2019. There are many good Bible reading schedules out there to take advantage of, and I want to urge you to decide on one to use today, and implement it starting Tuesday January 1, 2019.
If you don’t have a plan in mind, you can just do this: Read 3 chapters daily for 6 days and 5 chapters for 1 day each week. Make the five-chapter day the day that you have the most free time available, or make it be Sunday. Following that simple format, you’ll finish the Bible through this coming year. We will never master the Bible, but as we read it again and again, we want it to master us! God bless us every one, as we look to 2019!
