Today I’m starting a 10-week series leading up to our “Be Debt Free” Sunday on May 3. That will be our 39th anniversary, which means we could head into our 40th year in Temecula with zero debt!
It’s been 20 years since that’s happened!
Now, we do owe the money, but I’m sick of paying the banks! I’d rather have that go into ministry!
I’m working on a booklet that I’ll be rolling out to small groups of people over the coming months. We are enjoying buildings today that people sacrificed for in the past. You may not even know them, but they gave so you could enjoy what we have today.
I’m dreaming of the next generation. What will we pass on to them?
My family has been working on saving up a sacrificial offering, and I intend to give monthly after that for a year. Would you join me in praying and preparing for this?
We’re not Israel and we do not have a temple, but the Old Testament was given for our example (see Rom. 15:4 and 1 Cor. 10:11), and I believe the same giving principles can apply to Christians today.
“Ugh, Christians always talk about money. All they want is money.” That’s unfair, untrue, and uncharitable. Unfair because money is central to life, and it’s what makes our whole world go ’round. Untrue based on objectively on the amount of time we spend talking about money versus other topics. Uncharitable because it assumes greed rather than a true spiritual desire to honor God and be a part of His work. I don’t mind talking about money when God leads me to, and true believers don’t mind the biblical challenge to yield to Him in all ways.
So with that in mind, I’m genuinely excited to see what God wants to do in our church. Not just in meeting the needs, but even in the spirit of how we approach this whole season.
Pray with me. Prepare with me. Participate with me. Let’s see God do great things!
