We just concluded our Sunday School hour series on anger last week, with an excellent message preached by Pastor S.M. Davis of Park Crest Baptist Church in Lincoln, IL. The sermon was entitled “The High Cost of Anger.” I include the outline here:
- The Cost in time and effort others must put in to deal with your problem Proverbs 19:19, A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
- Because you refuse to see it as a problem
- Because your refuse to take the necessary steps to get victory over your problem
- The loss of your personal testimony Proverbs 22:1, A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches…
- By the foolish things an angry person does
- Proverbs 14:17, He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly…
- By the mean and hateful things an angry person does
- Proverbs 29:22, An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
- The loss of your treasure
- Earthly treasures
- Eternal treasures
- By the foolish things an angry person does
Conclusion, Steps to overcoming the sin of an angry spirit:
Admit the problem.
Never quit till you truly have the victory.
Give you mate and children corrective privilege.
Repent without reserve.
Yield inclinations to be angry to the power of the Holy Spirit consistently, three times daily. Psalm 55:17, Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
