Recently, seven-year-old Hudson’s karate class instructor gave his students invitations to give out to friends. He explained that if anyone they invited signed-up for the classes, whoever invited them would get $50.00. Hudson got pretty excited when one of the friends he had invited showed up with his parents at the Karate place, to inquire about it.
“Do I get the fifty dollars now?” he asked his mom. She explained that he wouldn’t get the referral award cash unless his friend actually signed up for instruction. With furrowed brow and a serious contemplative look, he said, “You know mom, I could really use that money.” It came across to mom and Dad and family when we heard the story, as humorous, because seven-year-olds don’t usually have a lot of financial burdens and bills to pay! We all wondered what he was thinking of regarding uses for the award.
Its awfully easy to spend our money before we have it, but much more Biblical to have the money before we spend it! There’s no greater use for money than to invest well in the things of the Lord, and that is the idea of our stewardship offering today. May God bless and return your faithful investment many times over!
