On this Memorial Day weekend, as we honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, we are reminded of an even greater sacrifice—the sacrifice that brought us eternal freedom. Just as our fallen heroes laid down their lives to protect our earthly liberties, our Savior, Jesus Christ, willingly gave His life to free us from the bonds of sin.
Their selfless sacrifice echos the love and grace of Christ’s sacrifice. I am so thankful for those who paid the ultimate price for our country, but as worthy as that is, Christ’s death and resurrection is still what we celebrate most today. The human lives that were given in years past were a sacrifice for our religious freedoms that we enjoy here in the great United States of America, and any moment of silence for fallen heroes tomorrow must also include a prayer of thanks to God.
