This last week’s Revival meeting with Brother Paul Schwanke was a great help and blessing to all those who got out to the services. Though it is regretful if you missed out on it, you can still hear all the messages on the church website, and I really urge you to do that this week. One of the things I have always appreciated about Brother Schwanke is his continuing emphasis on the supremacy of the Bible. There was an old time Evangelist by the name of Lester Roloff who had an influence on me as a young person when I first heard of him back in the church I was saved in, New Testament Baptist Church in Tucson.
Brother Roloff would preach revival meetings there from time to time. In his latter years he used to say, “Well, I’ve got my library down to 66 books.” What he was saying was, for all the books written about the Bible, there was still only one Bible.
If you come across any book written by man that calls into question the validity and authority of the Bible, the place you should file it is the trash can. That stuff belongs in the category labeled “Rubbish.”
Imagine men questioning whether Moses was God’s man to record His Word in the first five books of the Bible! Imagine self-important “scholars” saying Isaiah had five different authors! Imagine some Bible doubting “religious expert” calling what the Apostle Paul recorded of God’s Word, less important or inspired than what came from the pens of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John! Imagine “religious” persons joining with the Devil in dissecting and “correcting” the Word of God!
Some Bibles are printed with the words spoken by Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry in red. There are those who mistakenly think those words have more weight than the rest of the Bible. All the words of the Bible are equally inspired by God and were put in the Scriptures by the guidance of God. Thus, the red letters are no more or less important than the rest of the Word of God. Though they were intended to help the reader follow the recorded conversations more easily, they are not necessary.
The sooner anyone embraces the fact that God’s Word is forever settled in heaven and that He has preserved it for us, and given the English-speaking world the Authorized Version, the sooner all the other of life’s questions begin to be answered.
