Our first Congregational Singing Emphasis Month was in 2022, so this is our fourth year in a row to take a sabbath rest from choir and focus on singing together as a church.
Singing takes up more time in our services than praying, giving, or almost any other single thing we do (besides preaching), so I like to take one month per year to make sure we’re edifying one another biblically.
The point of the gathering of God’s people is to help each other get better at serving Him, and singing has a way of teaching each other Truth in a special way.
How did you learn your A-B-C’s? Probably with a song.
I learned the U.S. presidents to the tune of “One Little Two Little Three Little Indians,” and my wife learned her prepositions to the tune of “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”
Music is God’s creation, and there’s something special about using music for His glory. I absolutely love singing together, and it is so much more than just a time-filler.
Today, I’m going back to the bulletin note from 2022. I’d like to work through what we learned back then and see how we’re doing on it today. Are there some things you forgot? Are there some things we need to work on?
There will be some overlap to what we covered last time, but until we’ve got this down perfect, there’s some repetition needed for learning.
The notes are on the next page.
Let’s edify one another.
