OUR MISSIONS TRIP IN TWO WEEKS
Twenty-six of us are heading to Mexico two weeks from tomorrow. Back in May we had our Missions Revival, and that did so much for our heart for souls around the world. I’m so pleased to be able to see some of them face to face.
We sometimes pray for missionaries in a general sense. “God, bless the Gomez family in Durango. Help them to… um… reach… Mexico.”
That’s a big prayer request… it’s a big country!
But we’re going down there to meet real people. My kids are trying to wrap their minds around the missions trip, and one of them told my wife, “But mom, WE are not rich.”
“Yes, we are!” She told them. “Americans have so much, we don’t even realize how good we have it.”
And that’s a major point of these missions trips. Exposure.
We’re going to minister and try to help in as many ways as we can, but it’s not like we’ll change a whole lot of people’s lives in one weekend. Their church is doing the kind of week-in-week-out Gospel work that makes that kind of miraculous change happen… that’s the church!
But maybe some of the greatest changes might happen in us. That’s what I’m hoping, anyway.
Of course I’m going to try to minister to them, but I want us to be helped. I want us to have a heart not only for Durango, but the whole world. In a new way, I want us to be burdened for the people of Temecula and Murrieta like they are burdened for the people of Durango.
And that’s what I’m excited about.
We’ll have preaching, and kids classes, and all kinds of ministry happening, but I’d sure love it if God got a hole of our hearts.
Would you pray with me about that? –Pastor Ryan
