A Great Weekend
We were so blessed by the ministry of the Waterloos last weekend, and he preached like only a 35-year pastor could. ALL the sermons were good, but I’ve been seeing the “faith for others” idea everywhere for the past few days (Sunday morning’s sermon from the story of the four men who lowered the man down through the roof to be healed by Jesus.)
His Sunday night sermon hit just about all of us… no… not “just about;” it hit all of us. Did you know that the “be sure your sin will find you out” passage was about the sin of discouraging others? You never know who you influence, and negativity spreads faster than almost anything.
Someone said afterwards, “You know… even our joking around can be taken a little too far sometimes.” It’s true. I’m with Bro. Waterloo… I’m all for having a good time. But when our kidding is only breaking down instead of building up (edifying,) then we’re missing something.
Another area of the preaching was about involvement. “Where can I serve?” During the sermon, I jotted down a few major ministries that are perfect places to serve:
- Greeting
- Choir
- Usher
- Nursery
- Military
- Jail
- Good News Clubs
- Maintenance / Grounds
That was just off of the top of my head. The announcements are full this week of other areas to serve, and I am glad that there ARE a lot of people involved. Keep it up for the glory of God!
