In order to systematically reach our “Jerusalem” with the Gospel and meet strangers where they live (literally!), we will have an outreach table with maps and tracts at the back of the sanctuary. We plan to keep this table out year-round.
WEEKLY. Our goal is for individuals or groups to take a map on Sundays or Wednesdays and either knock or flyer the highlighted area some time in the week. At the close of each Sunday morning service, Bro. Christian will encourage our church family to take the Gospel with us every day, but also encourage us to regularly go beyond our routine and do even more. Whether you stick to our map system or find a way to interact with strangers on your own (e.g. at Harveston Lake), the point is for us to always be soul-conscious.
Our staff will work weekly on interacting with strangers both through regular door-to-door outreach as well as some kind of community interaction through the public schools, community sports, community choirs, or through some other intentional means.
MONTHLY. Starting on March 4, the first Saturday of each month will be what we call our “All Church Outreach Meeting” where we will have a brief charge, prayer time, training tip, skit (e.g. what not to do at outreach), or some other way of encouraging us in declaring the Gospel. The single most important outreach meeting, and the one we emphasize each year, is our Saturation Saturday on April 1 as we prepare for Easter.
Whether you can make it to the monthly outreach meetings or not, I’m praying that the people of Calvary Baptist Church will take seriously our charge to preach the Gospel to every creature. Some do it weekly through other ministries besides our door-to-door efforts, and I think that is wonderful. May we always have a heart for souls!
