Master Clubs Pine Car Derby Tonight!
Some of the most creative lessons I’ve ever heard about have come from that crazy Master Clubs director, Bro. Philip Thompson.
I mean… a few weeks ago, he had all the kids riled about how MEAN of a pastor I was! He threw a dodge ball at the wall, and it bounced back and smacked him in the face, and he blamed ME for building that wall there. “If Pastor Ryan didn’t build this wall here, the ball wouldn’t have bounced off of it and hit me in the face, so it’s Pastor Ryan’s fault, right?!” And they were chanting and ranting against “Big Baptist” trying to hold down the little man and never letting them throw a ball wherever they want to!
The point was clear: WE are responsible for our own actions, and we can’t go around blaming others for our own dumbness. It was a good lesson!
I’ve seen Bro. Philip bring in RC cars, swords, and juggling pins, and the Master Clubs is a wonderful ministry that helps our kids see themselves as church members. Every week, they are encouraged to learn the Scriptures and apply them to their lives. They pray for missionaries, do service projects, write encouraging letters, learn great songs, and memorize verses.
Tonight is our Pine Car Derby, and we’ll conclude our services as a little bit early in order to get down there to watch the races! I’m so thankful for the work of God in our kids’ lives, and I appreciate the workers who make it happen week by week.
