MISSIONARIES HELP KEEP OUR BURDEN FOR MISSIONS
It has been over a year since our Missions Revival, and I have appreciated the missionaries that have come to our church throughout the year to increase our burden for the Gospel needs around the world. Whether it is England, China, or Mexico, the world—all of it at the same time—needs Christ!
I appreciate Americans who go overseas to start a new church and get a local pastor trained and ordained as the new pastor. And I appreciate ministries like Bro. Honeycutt’s that works with local men to start their own churches. I love supporting all kinds of ministries that are in the world telling people that Jesus died for their sin, was buried, and rose from the grave to defeat their sin. If the missionaries don’t tell people that their sins can be forgiven, who will?
When you put it that way, YOU are a missionary. You and I are called to proclaim the good news that Jesus died for sin, and that God’s grace can forgive people of their sin and cleanse them of all unrighteousness! What a message!
We’re living in a world that, for some reason, doesn’t like that message. They don’t like the idea of a God who makes the rules. One Christian apologist often asks on college campuses, “Hypothetically, if we could PROVE that Christianity were true, would you believe it?” And often he’s met with a shout of, “NO!” Some people who claim to be seeking reason and truth may actually really just want their own way—to rule their own life.
Our flesh sometimes thinks that if GOD comes in, he’ll mess everything up. Nothing is further from the truth. With God, all things are made right.
So, as a missionary to the USA, or to California, or to Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, and beyond, how are you doing? If you wrote a missionary letter to your supporting churches about all the ways you are trying to reach people with the Gospel, what would you report? What prayer requests do you have?
I am thankful for the missionaries’ reminders that we are ALL part of the same work they’re a part of.
