Bro. Stan Is Preaching Tonight
This is Bro. Stan Schmidt’s second time in services on a Wednesday night, and both times, he was preaching! He’s been a full-time caretaker for his wife ever since he came to our church, and just last week, God answered prayers to allow him to find an Assisted Care home to move her into.
Bro. Stan was leading several Retirement Home ministries throughout the valley, at one point going weekly to three of four locations to preach God’s Word. His heart for people is obvious, and his heart for God’s Word will come through tonight as he runs the services in my absence.
My family is visiting the Indiana extended family this week, and we’ll be going to church tonight… just not with you! (Actually, by the time you read this, we’ll be out of church since there’s a 3-hour time difference.) Thank you for praying for our travels.
Also, THANK YOU for all the kind words and notes and gifts for my birthday! What a special treat it was to spend my birthday doing all my favorite things with my favorite people. Seriously, I LOVED the day last Sunday, I got to be with the Rooted Class, and choir, and got to preach in the services, and got to spend time with the deacons, and friends, and family… it was a great day! Seriously! People have asked me what kind of hobbies and things I enjoy the most… I love preaching, and being with God’s people, and studying, and writing… that’s what I love, and I really loved having my birthday on a Sunday. What a treat!
Every time I’m away from you, I miss being home. No other church is like home, and I love that YOU make it a great place to come to. There’s not one person in church that I don’t love, and I suppose that’s not always the case in some churches.
Thank you, church, for being one I can’t wait to return to. Thank you, Bro. Stan, for filling in tonight. And thank you, God, for being the one OF WHOM all this is possible.
