The Scriptures teach us to use discernment on whether we should respond to each YouTube comment or not, and from Proverbs 26:4–5 we learn that silence can be a legitimate response, depending on the situation. Our target audience is our church, and our goal is to edify our members by reinforcing throughout the week what they are hearing on Sundays. Going to the public square with our beliefs puts us at odds with many people—religious and nonreligious alike—and religious content in particular seems to bring out the hottest debates between people already settled in their beliefs. Although negative engagement would actually be good for our YouTube algorithm, we have chosen to hold all comments for review before publishing.
