Last night, my father-in-law was sitting on the couch, dozing off (snoring only a little), when I walked by and asked, “Did you bring any sermons with you?”
“All of them,” he said.
“Really? Would you be able to preach my class tomorrow?”
“I’d be glad to.”
And that was that. So here we are!
My father in law pastored for more years than I’ve been alive. He pastored his FIRST church (in Indianapolis) almost longer than I’ve been alive! And then he took a country church for a few years where Mrs. Jamie went to Jr. high and high school. And THEN he moved back to Indy and pastored some more!
So he’s a pastor-champ.
A few years ago, due to a heart attack and other health complications following, he stepped down from pastoring, and is now the most faithful member that the church has (except for today, that is. He’s ditching his church to be here.)
Bro. Egbert is a good dad, a good preacher, and a good man. He’s walked the “wisdom” path a lot longer than any of us, so we have a lot to learn.
Listen well today. Love God, love others, and do right.
