-bulletin note from Sunday, April 28, 2013
I teach the Fellowship Bible Class. It’s the 40’s and 50’s age adult’s class, and we meet every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. (Interpret that- Kitchen, coffee, cookies and crispy crème donuts! …or not). I’m working on a series of lessons relating to the biblical motivations that we are given to live right. Last week we talked about the fact that we ought to be models in our walk. (Now, admittedly we don’t have many in our class who might be mistaken for one of the boys in the Sunday paper ads, sporting the latest $200.00 designer blue jeans…the men in our class might more likely show up in a Hank’s Hardware ad or in the pages of Western Farm Review) But, we still are expected to be models in our walk, because the generations following us need a godly example to follow! We looked into the Bible’s descriptions of our walk and found plenty to study, and to work at incorporating into our day to day walk. God says all of the following in instructing believers of their walk. Walk following Christ; walk humbly; walk by faith; walk honestly; walk with integrity; walk steadily; walk in truth; walk circumspectly; walk in the Spirit; walk in the ways of the Lord your God; walk in His commands; walk as before the Lord; walk after the Lord; walk in the Law of the Lord; walk in the fear of our God; walk uprightly; walk in the way of good men; walk in the light of the Lord; walk in the paths of righteousness; walk in the day; walk after the Spirit; walk worthy; walk in love walk in wisdom. These examples are some of many more. They describe for us our position and perspective, our direction and destination, our path and progress, our attitude and action, and our condition and companions in our walk. Are you the model you need to be in your daily walk?
