About a month ago, a long string of drivers were following a dirt road toward Denver International Airport. A crash had snarled traffic on the main road to the airport, so Google maps GPS had diverted drivers to another route. About 100 drivers were following their “smartphones” along this new route, which was a dirt road.

Apparently, few had the sense to realize that recent rains had turned the lower portion of the road to a mud bog.  The first few drivers drove into the mud and embedded their vehicles, while others dutifully followed till the procession came to a halt with some cars buried to their axles, and still a long way from the airport.

It was a clear, warm, sunny day, and the road didn’t seem bad at first. And after all, there were lots of people following the same route, so, what could go wrong?  Herein are some good reminders for us.
