Today’s Family Weekend is a good time to plan what you can do with your family this summer. I like the ideas that Pastor Ryan Thompson shared, taken from Luke 2:52, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Whether you have kids in the house or not, I think today’s challenge to families can help ALL of us go into this summer more intentionally. Let’s take the very areas that Jesus grew as our example:

WISDOM—let’s call this mental growth.

Plan some workbooks/worksheets

Read a book

Learn a skill (mechanics, robotics, gardening, cooking, etc.)

STATURE—physical growth.

Swimming, biking, hiking

Sports (golf, play catch, picleball)

Be active—don’t be stuck indoors all summer.

FAVOR WITH GOD—spiritual growth.

Bible reading / prayer / memorization plan

Read a daily devotional or missionary story

Plan your listening (sermons, podcasts, etc.)

FAVOR WITH MAN—service/social growth.

Serve someone / get together with people

Do chores at home (yard work, big project, schedule jobs)

Serve at church

Let’s have a GREAT summer!   -Pastor Ryan
