ALMOST HERE!

Wow. Next, next Monday is when we leave! With camp past, we are recharged and ready to head into this trip. We’ve been preparing a long time for this, and ever since last October we have been planning and anticipating what God will do in our hearts through this Missions Trip. Congratulations on making it. You’ve put a lot into this trip, and I appreciate your efforts so far. If you have any questions, let me know!

When you first received your confirmation letter, you saw that there would be certain requirements placed on you. The main requirements were the weekly devotions and church attendance. We were not sure how much room there would be on the trip, so we set it up this way. It was open to buy in a spot for a while, but some of the people we thought might come as sponsors did not end up coming. So, we have our group, and I am very excited for the trip.

SPECIAL MEETING

One of the requirements for qualifying for the trip was that you attend any special meetings we would hold. Our main training meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 23 from 1:30-4:30. We will be going through VBS games, practicing our schedule, talking about your expectations, how to approach the week, etc.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Bible
• Sleeping Bag
• Pillow
• Small carry on (if needed)…small enough to hold on your lap in a bus.
• Phones are okay to have for emergencies only. NO texting or gaming on them.
• 1 big suitcase that weighs less than 50lbs.  This one will be checked at the airport.
• SPECIAL: To save on luggage fees, 2 people will share one suitcase for sleeping bags, pillows, jackets, etc. (THREE 50lb. bags per TWO people).

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

• No laptops.  You can bring books, small games to play with your friends or other things like that to occupy your time on the airplane. We would prefer you don’t watch movies and such.
• The usual bad stuff: drugs, guns, alcohol, bad attitude, etc.

DRESS  CODE:

Men:

Jeans and t-shirts okay for daily activities. Collared shirts for services. Ties on Sunday (I won’t be in a full suit; just shirt/tie, slacks.) No jeans on Sunday. No shorts all week.

Ladies:

Skirts or culottes all week. No pants. Skirts or dresses for VBS services (denim okay). No denim on Sunday.

PREPARE:

As a ministry team, we are not going to Alaska for sight-seeing. In fact, I don’t even think there are many sights to see. We’ll be flying over water and living in a village with 8 miles of road. The point is that we’re going to minister.

Every day you’ll have a chance to journal and reflect on some thoughts about the trip. Take every day seriously and listen to God.
