-bulletin note from Sunday, March 17, 2013
I have always encouraged the young people of our congregation to attend at least one year of Bible College. My first emphasis is on Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK and then West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA. Every young person will benefit during the transition from youth to adulthood, by the atmosphere of a good solid local church oriented Baptist Bible college. Their opportunity to grow spiritually, and in maturity is greatly enhanced in a place where their every day is focused on the learning and application of the Word of God, while surrounded with peers of like faith and practice. They also get the added positive influence of numerous godly leaders throughout the year. In addition, the likelihood of meeting a mate with the same heart for the Lord is greatly increased. Some might have the concern that these colleges I mention are not State accredited. That fact is really an enhancement rather than a detraction. The State has long since proven its utterly deplorable inability to educate. The vast majority of State colleges and universities are primarily dedicated to what amounts to a liberal socialist and expressly anti-Christian agenda. Yale University began, as did many of eastern universities, as a training institution for those going into ministry. One recent graduate, Nathan Harden, has written a book resulting from his experience there. He relates that every year at Yale, with the full support of the administration, there is held what is called “Sex Week.” Hard-core porn movies are shown in the classroom, and porn production companies are brought on campus to market their products to students. Students are urged to dress as porn stars and are judged by porn producers brought on campus. Harden pointed out that what’s happening at Yale is occurring at colleges and universities across the country. He said “Our universities have lost touch with the purpose of education, the pursuit of truth.” Heartland Baptist Bible College and West Coast Baptist College are not accredited by the State, but they are accredited by God.
