Note from Sunday, August 25, 2013
As a body, each part makes up the whole.
I love that principle. As each body part functions well, the whole body feels good. Each one in its place makes up where the other is weak.
That’s a Bible concept about the church. The church is like a body, and as each church member does his part, it helps everyone. Certain people make up for weaknesses in others.
I saw that SO clearly in the interns while they were here… and I see it especially clear now that they’re gone! They were such an amazing part of our youth staff that they were able to have a lot of influence in such a short amount of time. God used them in an amazing way.
They were not perfect, but they were definitely better than ME in a lot of areas! I know that, and you know that. You saw them compared to me, and there were aspects to them that you perhaps with you had in me. I get that.
But I also trust that God knows what He’s doing. I hate losing those guys, but I know God has other plans for them. I also hate that I have weak areas, but I’m thankful God uses others to function in ways I am weak. I’m glad he used the interns to connect with you in ways that I cannot do well. I loved that!
Now that they’re gone, we will definitely miss them, but I believe it’s in God’s plan. Maybe God had them here to show YOU some areas you could step up in. What was it you’ll miss about the guys? Their servant’s spirit? Their love for preaching? Their friendship? Their smile? You be that to others. You reach out. You smile. You be a godly friend. You be the one who loves preaching.
Are you going to let their influence go to waste? If you want all their hard work to live on, be the one to follow their good example. You can’t be them. I can’t be them. But you and I both can try to copy the good parts about them. Be what you want others to be to you.

There’s a New Song in My Heart (song 111)
There’s a new song in my heart since the Savior set me free;
There’s a new song in my heart ‘Tis a heav’nly harmony!
All my sins are washed away in the blood of Calvary;
O what peace and joy nothing can destroy.
There’s a new song in my heart!
Every Day Hash Chorus (song 113)
Every day with Jesus I’ll be walking on the King’s Highway;
Tell me the old, old story, I love Him better every day. Hallelujah!
I will make you fishers of men if you’ll only follow Me.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
I’m from a sin set; you’re from a sin set, we’re all from sin set free!
