The tour group on Sunday said you were the friendliest youth group they’d ever been in.
Great job!
They said they’d never had teens that just came up and greeted them! Usually they’re the ones doing all the greeting and being friendly. Maybe you scared them off by being so… weird. J
That’s a great testimony to have. Good job! I was so happy to hear that from them last Sunday. I know what it’s like to be in their position, and it’s really hard to go into a roomful of teens and try to get any of them to talk or be cordial. If any of you get on a tour group some day, you’ll see what I mean. Most of the time you’ll have to choose to be the friendly one.
Think about other guests that come into our classroom. Do you think they’ll be greeted as well? What if they’re not as talkative as the tour group people? Are you going to still greet them as friendly as you did on Sunday?
No matter who the guest is, treat them like royalty. Drop your game, drop your conversation, drop everything and go up and at least say hello and thank them for coming. If that’s all you do, great! Then you can stand back and let some of the more… *ahem… talkative ones take over as they get the guest cards and “continue” with them, as we’ve taught on before.
Outreach doesn’t only happen on Saturday mornings. A big part of outreach is right here in class with the people God brings to us! Let’s all be faithful to do whatever we can to reach out to others with God’s love.
