Happy Mother’s Day!
Wait… does “Happy Mother’s Day” mean that only happy moms are allowed in church today? I say yes. If they’re cranky… kick them out. This is happy mother’s day.
I love my mom. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom (oldest Mothers Day joke ever.)
I also love my wife. She’s the coolest mom ever. When I married my wife, I had no idea she’d be as good of a mom as she is. I don’t think SHE knew she’d be such a good mom. There’s no mom college to teach girls how to be good moms. Somehow, my wife is doing it right.
You’d better respect these young moms, man! They’re tough! My wife has been up every night for the past 2 months feeding that baby at crazy times. Just last night she was up at 10:30 and then again at 3:30. And that’s a LONG stretch of time for that baby to sleep! Mrs. Jamie is happy with 5-hour stretches of sleep. I’m telling you… being a mom isn’t for wimps.
That’s on top of caring for all you snotty nosed little whiners, too. Momma Jamie has continued in choir, all her churchy duties, camp registrations… everything. She’s a champ! Some of you boys (not men) get the sniffles and you’re out of commission. Poor things. Maybe my wife can teach you how to toughen up (that’s embarrassing.)
Not only is Mrs. Jamie cool, but Mrs. Gina and Mrs. Lori are pretty awesome, also. I mean… Mrs. Gina has had a ton of major surgeries and she looks and acts like nothing’s even wrong! She’s got more metal in her than a transformer! She is cool! And Mrs. Lori… don’t even mess with her! She’s the mother of Evan… enough said. Pray for Mrs. Lori! She’s got a son who wants to sing and dance instead of pillage and plunder! *sigh. Also, I bet none of you girls can beat her on the raft at Ironwood.
Moms are awesome. Love your mom and she’ll be your biggest cheerleader in life. Fact.

GREAT WORK – A lot of good work happened the last couple weeks. Thank you for your good work with the tables and chairs setup. They looked great. | Also, thank you to all you guys who helped with the garage sale donations. They keep coming in, and we always need people to be available to carry items for the church members. | Just about every Friday since the Heartland trip, Ryan’s been out here pulling weeds, trimming trees, mowing (on the riding mower… danger!), washing the building cobwebs and doing a bunch of other stuff. Sam’s down here a lot with him, too. They do a great job. | On Thursday, Evan, Kian, Sean, Hannah and Lexi came and we did a full detail of the big bus. I used to work at a car detail shop, and we did basically a professional job on that bus (probably about a $400 value… seriously.) Each person had their job and we scrubbed the inside and out, from top to bottom.
I never have the time or space to be able to get to ALL the things that you do. Even if I had the space, I would miss someone or I would forget what you did. Some of you type skits, work nurseries, watch crazy kids, do sound, organize music, come to church on your days off, paint handrails, volunteer, volunteer and volunteer more to serve. Great job. I wish I could recognize everyone. Hopefully the nice lawns, beautiful buildings, and sparkling church vehicles show a little of what you do around here. Great work. –Bro. Ryan
BRO. CHRISTIAN – Not only is it weird to call him that because he is from here, but it’s weird to say it because his name itself is like… what WE are… Christians! Anyway, Bro. Christian is arriving this Saturday, but he doesn’t “officially” start work until the night of our camping trip. It will be a weird balance for him and for you as he interns here this summer… on one hand, he’s “the intern;” on the other hand, he’s just Christian. I get that. Don’t kill yourself over lifting him up to something he’s not, but also be mindful that he’s here with a purpose and with a new connection to our church, making him responsible for more (to whom much is given, much shall be required.)
CAMPING TRIP – Please sign up at the info table. Cost is $10. May 30-31, Friday – Saturday. 3 meals, gas, and lodging are included. Bro. Si is taking us to KQ Ranch where we camped out 2 years ago. Bring a tent (if you have one), sleeping bag, and warm clothes. More details coming soon.
CHURCH WORKDAY – Next Saturday, May 24.
