Has it been easier to wake up in the morning, now that it is light at 6:00am?
For me, if I see light outside, I feel like I’m missing out on something in life. This past week especially. I have had two big projects going on at church (which you’ll see in a couple months), and every morning my eyes have just popped open at 4:30 or 5:00am. It’s still dark by then, but there’s at least a glimmer of a sunrise way off in the distance. My coffee and the adrenaline of my projects help me wake up, but the time when my mind is really ready for the day is when the sun comes up. The daylight helps me really kick things into gear.
As I was studying for this morning’s sermon I thought how appropriate it was for us to live in the light. The daylight wakes us up. It makes us come alive. It helps us think. It gives new life to every day. Imagine a place with no daylight—no fun! Boring! Lifeless.
But we get to live in sunlight… at least we get more than people in Alaska.
Do you live in the light every day? Spiritually speaking, now. Do you live in the light of God’s Word? Does His truth shine on your life? Are you alive by Him? Can God shine a light on every part of your life and you not be ashamed? Does your life personify sincerity and truth?
Sincerity and truth (v8 of today’s text) are the hallmarks of living in the light. If God shines his spotlight on your life, would you be embarrassed or joyful? Live in the light.

Eat lunch on your own before coming. Brink snacks and your own water, if you want it.
If You Believe (song 163)
I read about how Paul and Silas were in jail,
And no one there, nobody there could pay their bail,
But when they prayed, they knew that God was on their side;
The jailhouse doors swung open wide.
If you believe, you shall receive.
There’s not a trouble or care the good Lord can’t relieve;
Oh, He is just the same today
All you have to do is just trust and pray and believe.
You must believe.
When Daniel say within the hungry lion’s den,
Nobody thought that there was any hope for him,
But all night long, the lions never took a bite,
God took away their appetite.
When David stood before the giant with a sling,
Goliath laughed at such a puny little thing,
But David knew his faith in God would stand the test,
He flung the rock God did the rest.
Therefore the Redeemed (song 159)
Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion,
And everlasting joy shall be upon their head.
They shall obtain gladness and joy,
And sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion,
And everlasting joy shall be upon their head.
And everlasting joy shall be upon their head.
