As Christians, we are expected to love everyone no matter what. We are called to a relentless, never-ending love. We are expected to love everyone: friends, family, classmates, people we’ve never met and people whom we should be allowed to hate.
Relentless love. That’s what we’re called to. No matter what, we are called to love others. Missions trips are a way to show relentless love. Full time missions is even more intense! Some of you have visited other countries and seen the need of Jesus Christ’s love all over the world.
Sometimes it’s easier to love people we’ve never met than it is to love each other. Like… here in this class. Sometimes it’s easier to love an unknown Venezuelan kid than it is to love the person behind you, or three chairs over, or the person up front.
Do you love others?
Psh. No! Why should I?!
How about this answer: Because Jesus loves you. No matter what, He relentlessly loves you. He never stops. He always pushes on in love.
Do you deserve it? You know you better than anyone. You know your thoughts. You know what you do in secret. You know what goes on in your own mind. No one else is in there but you. Well… you and Jesus, that is.
Do you deserve Jesus’ love? No. But He loves you.
The least you could do is love others like Christ loves you. And I’m not talking about loving some little kid in China that you’ve never seen. I’m talking about each other.
Love isn’t all weird. Don’t get weird on me now. Biblical love is simple: it’s relentless, unconditional love. (By the way, it’s NOT lust or relationship love.) Loving others means you treat them like you’d want to be treated. Loving others is living the golden rule that you learned when you were 4. Loving others is simple. Try it today.
