Our Teens of Faith series started about this time last year. I didn’t realize it had been that long until I reviewed my notes. Granted, we took a few weeks off when the interns preached their series, but we’ve been chuggin’ right along through the series.
So far, we’ve covered a lot of ground. The “Love God” section first explained what it means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, then we looked at several ways you love God: Love God by loving His house, His people, His Word, etc.
Then, the next section (the part we’re in now), was (and is) all about loving others. As our love for God increases, so should our love for others. No matter what.
The most recent part of loving others has been loving others through outreach. We’ve gone through several weeks of training and you’ve received a ton of notes on the topic. We’ve even practiced, some, although with Christmas and New Year’s craziness (as well as church planting conference, school restarting, Preaching Rally coming up), we have not had consistency there.
Regardless, we are restarting our series once again tonight. We will have next week off but after that, we will be fairly consistent once again as we head into the new school semester.
I want you to love God. I want that love for God to overflow into a love for others. Only then—when your love is in the right place—will the rest of Christianity make sense. Only then—when you love God and serve others from that love—will you live the sustainable Christian life.
List-followers burn out. List-writers are tyrants. God calls Christians to obedience in love. It’s the only right way to follow Him.
