Great testimonies last week.
If you missed last week for whatever reason, you missed out on some good testimonies from those who went on the Heartland Trip. While part of the trip was about seeing the college (and that’s what most of the testimonies were about), the MAIN reason for the trip was to give.
We’ve been saving up all year to be able to give to the needs of the church planters who were presenting, and what a blessing it was to help so many out! That’s what giving is all about.
Giving is not about “…and it shall be given unto you.”
It’s about the first part: “Give…”
Do you give? Do you give by faith? Do you give faithfully? Do you give cheerfully?
All last year you did, and those who went to the conference were able to see the blessings of your giving. Giving is not about the money. It’s not about God’s blessing YOU for giving.
Giving is simply about obedience to Scripture.
Today marks a couple checkpoints in giving. First, we are re-starting our Home Missions fund back at zero. We gave it all away, and now we are starting over.
Second, today is Missions Commitment Sunday in church. The order goes like this: 1. Tithe 2. Faith Promise missions (today’s commitment) 3. Home Missions $1 weekly offering. Do #1 and #2 first.
Then, after you give, trust God to be faithful to His promise and return His blessings. That’s not WHY we give… but it’s a cool bonus!

MATHENY FAMILY – Tonight. Missionaries to Romania. Be sure to greet them and thank them for coming.
MISSIONS COMMITMENT SUNDAY – Today. Step out in faith and promise to give to missions this year.
PREACHING RALLY – Please be available for whatever needs to be done for the Preaching Rally, coming up in just a few weeks (Feb. 15). On the day of the PR we will need help passing out booklets, greeting, serving and cleaning up at the end. We will be doing signups tonight for the main jobs, but everyone should plan to stay afterwards to help clean up. Skit practice is on Wednesdays after service for those involved.
I Will Praise Thee (song 40)
I will praise Thee, O Lord, with all my heart.
I will show forth Thy marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in Thee.
I will sing praise to Thy name, O most high.
Unto Thee, O Lord (song 43)
Unto Thee, O Lord (Unto Thee, O Lord)
Unto Thee, O Lord (Unto Thee, O Lord)
Do I lift up my soul. (Do I lift up my soul.)
O my God, (O my God,)
I trust in Thee, (I trust in Thee,)
Let me not be ashamed,
Let not my enemies triumph over me.
