Note from Wednesday, September 11, 2013
I don’t know how big a deal they make the terrorist bombings out to be, but if you’re old enough to remember some of the details of the 9/11 attacks, you know it was a huge deal to America. It unified us, and it sparked a war.
What happened that day was an outrage. We were attacked by Muslim terrorists who, for the most part, were not from the outside but from the inside. I hate traitors. I hate people who use our resources and live in our land and then spend all their time trying to destroy us or cut down our nation. I hate it when people from other countries come here to live, but the whole time they’re here they talk about how much better their country is. If you like it so much, go back!
But this isn’t a rant about being American. It’s more of a rant about the lives that were taken, and the outrage that was shown following the attacks. Think about the thousands of people who died that day. Think about the shock of everyone else in the nation as they watched the towers collapse. Astounding.
Now… think back to another time when just as many people lost their lives, but lost them for a whole different reason. Have you ever read Foxe’s Book of Martyrs or The Trail of Blood? These are books that detail some of the atrocities of the established churches (like the Catholics) back in the days when they had full power. Thousands of Bible-believers were killed because they would not bow to the false teachings or recant their faith.
Where was the outrage then?
What about the missionaries who come through our church and say that other countries all over the world hate Christians, and persecution of Christians is a real thing? Where’s our outrage about people even today who are giving their lives for their faith?
God help us to be as spiritually driven to stand for truth as we Americans were to stand for our liberty. -Bro. Ryan
