All Church Outreach
This Saturday is our first “All Church Outreach,” which is our monthly outreach emphasis day. My heart for every member of CBC is that we are soul-conscious every single day, and that we make serious efforts to bring up spiritual topics with everyone we are close to.
That means that friends, co-workers, family, or fellow school parents know you as “the Christian.” You are the one they know has character, prioritizes church, politely refuses the things they’re into, and has a family that’s, well, different.
Over time, though, you realize that those relationships may be in maintenance mode, and you feel like God is calling you to use your life to reach MORE people with the Gospel.
We are called to PREACH the Gospel, not convert people. God does the converting; we do the telling. Our job is to take the Gospel to every creature, and God calls that planting and watering. He brings the increase.
So, our job is actually really easy… Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15
We’re just supposed to bring it. That’s an easy first step.
Our All Church Outreach day is a simple tool we can use to help go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. I don’t think you’re a bad person if you don’t come. I think several good Christians will be absent on that day. I think God will still say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” to a lot of people who are at home on Saturday.
But I also think we should try to use our lives not only to preach the Gospel in the regular course of living, but also during some systematic times that we have set up through the church in order to reach STRANGERS.
In my regular course of life, I don’t meet a lot of strangers, so my family has to make efforts to go beyond our bubble. My wife and I signed up this week to coach volleyball as an effort to meet strangers. I don’t know how often we’ll get to preach the Gospel while coaching, but it’s a start. And we’re going to try.
God has you here on earth to declare the Gospel. Our All Church Outreach day is one of many ways to help you connect with strangers, and it’s a good start. Will you be here Saturday?
