Manny was explaining to the Junior
age kids in Master Club the truth that
salvation is based on trust in Jesus
Christ as Saviour, and not on things
like going to church or doing good
works. He asked Bryce in class,
“Does everybody in church go to
heaven?” Bryce thought a moment and
answered, “No.” Manny then asked,
“And why is that?” Bryce responded,
“Because they’re not dead yet.”
They had to admit he was right about that. The Master
Clubs leaders were fishing for the answer that just because
someone is in church, does not necessarily mean that they
are saved and headed for Heaven. Too many depend on
their connection to a church, but have no connection to the
Saviour. The churches are supposed to be the candlesticks,
holding up the light of the gospel, but the churches are not
the Saviour. We are light, only as we reflect His light, so,
“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your
good works, and glorify your father which is in Heaven.”
