Mr. Sanders declared this week that his administration would “believe in science.” This got a big cheer from his audience of persons who are as intellectually challenged as he is. The contrast he was trying to make was that those who are conservative tend to believe in God, while leftists think themselves above such “unscientific” beliefs. In the last presidential election leftists made sure that any mention of God was expunged from the Democrat Party platform.
Mr. Biden was recently speaking to liberal voters and he began to quote from the Declaration of Independence, till he realized he was coming up on the line that states, “…that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…” He began with “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are… then he caught himself and stopped his quote, blurting out something else rather unintelligible, to avoid the mention of the Creator.
Biden, as all of us who began school in the 1950’s or earlier, had memorized portions of the Declaration and the Constitution as part of his schooling requirements, but it nearly got him in trouble with the leftists! Close call, Joe!
Mr. Sander’s assertion indicates a widespread assumption among the elitist liberal element, that one cannot believe the Bible and have any scientific sense. He seems oblivious to the fact that many of history’s greatest scientists were professing Christians. You need to understand though, that when Bernie and people like him say “I believe in Science,” they are talking about it as their religion, science with a capital “S.”
Conservative people on the other hand, do not take the pronouncements of anyone who declares himself a scientist, or even the pronouncements of bona-fide scientists as infallible truth. Indeed, no honest scientist demands acceptance of a hypothesis or a theory as unassailable fact.
If Bernie and his crowd accepted genuine science, they would recognize a well-proven fact in genetic science, that the human population is made up of two genders, male and female. Genuine science has well established the distinct individual human life within the womb of the mother. Genuine science has provided ample evidence that “climate change” is not a recent phenomenon, but a repeated cycle going back many thousands of years.
One of the lines in the film “Nacho Libre” that the kids and I get a laugh from is from Ignacio’s “not so bright” wrestling partner who confesses, “I don’t believe in God, I believe in Science!” The thinking man comes to recognize that, contrary to popular philosophy, the truth of God and genuine scientific research are not mutually exclusive positions.
