Bro. Gerhard Theurich Preaching Tonight
Tonight is the last of our deacons preaching, and it has been a great blessing to hear from so many guests. I am thankful for these men of God who can open God’s Word and declare God’s Truth to us, and it strengthens our church to hear from various voices. Ultimately, it is all the same voice of the Holy Spirit when we are faithful to declare the Word.
Bro. Gerhard gave me a sneak preview and said that tonight’s text is Joshua 22, which I’ve been studying in preparation for my upcoming book. I just finished another round of edits today. After announcing it just last Sunday, Rebecca Farnbach (who has several books of her own!) has already returned her edited copy with over 80 suggestions! I was so thankful, because some of the edits were downright embarrassing, and others made me go, “Wow, I never knew that grammar rule!” I kept all but 6 or 7 of her suggestions, and those I only rejected because of a particular point I was trying to make.
The preaching tonight is from a man who is a thinker, and I have always appreciated Bro. Gerhard’s mind. We are told to love God with all our mind, after all, and those who accuse Christians of “just having blind faith” have never done any serious investigation into the intellectual depths of Christianity. I am not saying you have to be intellectually deep to be a Christian, but I am thankful that intellectually deep people like Bro. Gerhard are welcome. Not only welcomed, but even they have things to learn, and they can never plumb the Bible’s depths.
Please be in prayer for him and for one another tonight. We must be people of prayer, but not for our sakes alone. For others’ sakes. Please pray for one another sincerely. God bless you.
